WordPress Newsletter plugin v3.8.7

After much development and the thorough implementation of several new features and loads of new fixes, we are very, very proud to announce v3.8.7 of the WordPress Newsletter plugin.

Before we look at some of the feature highlights, feel free to have a look at the detailed release notes of v3.8.7 with a list of additions, fixes and improvements to the plugin.

New Feature Highlights

Many new features were added to this release of the WordPress Newsletter plugin.

Pending Autoresponder Emails

A new Autoresponder Emails section linking from the Newsletters > Autoresponders section of the Newsletter plugin. In this new section, you can view all sent and pending autoresponder emails and manage them accordingly.

Subscriber Management Page

An amazing new subscriber management section built right into your WordPress theme (as a post/page of your choice) gives your subscribers the ability to manage all their current subscriptions, subscribe to other mailing lists and also edit their custom field values under the “Profile” tab of this section.

New Subscribe Form- and Custom CSS

We have implemented beautiful new styling for the default subscribe form CSS and in addition to that the Newsletter plugin also now has a custom CSS box under Newsletters > Configuration > Custom CSS where you can load additional styles into your site.

Multiple Attachments per Email

When creating newsletters in the Newsletters > Create Newsletter section of the plugin, you can now attach multiple (unlimited) email attachments to newsletters according to your needs. You can delete attachments directly on the Create Newsletter screen as well.

Improved qTranslate Integration

Improved qTranslate integration for sidebar widget- and post/page embedded subscribe forms allow you to choose respective settings for the subscribe form for each language defined inside the qTranslate settings with easy-to-use tabs and language flags.

WordPress Post Thumbnails

Post thumbnails have been integrated for the WordPress posts shortcodes (via TinyMCE) in newsletters and also for the Latest Posts Subscription posts in newsletters. The thumbnails are shown with the_post_thumbnail() function which takes the featured image from a WordPress post if your theme supports this.

ColorBox Integration

We switched all dialogs from Thickbox to ColorBox in the Newsletter plugin. This is for serial key validation, theme previews, email settings testing utility and more. ColorBox is fast and lightweight, it just works so much better!

Is there a way to use the featured image with this plugin? Besides using the featured image from a post as a thumbnail.

We have a template with a heading image (background) with some text over it. We can use wp_subject as the title. But looking for a way to use the featured image for the background image.

    Hello,
    I have 2 questions:
    1) I’m using WPML for multilanguage wordpress blogs. Does wordpress newsletter plugin works with WPML ?
    2) I’m using google apps for email platform. Do you have a solution to use Google Apps and avoid that messages goes in the SPAM folder with accepted double optin emails ?
    Thanks.

      @Dimitri,

      Thank you for your questions!

      1. The WordPress Newsletter plugin doesn’t yet integrate with WPML, unfortunately. We have done integration with qTranslate though.

      2. Messages shouldn’t go into the SPAM folder, it is determined by the whitelisting of your recipients and also the content of your emails. The Google email servers shouldn’t have a blacklisted IP to cause that to happen. Look at the subject and content of your emails to prevent words that may be caught in spam filters. Also, we do not recommend that you use Google Apps for sending your emails because it has a 500 email daily limit which might be too little.

      All the best,
      Antonie

“The WordPress Newsletter plugin doesn’t yet integrate with WPML, unfortunately. We have done integration with qTranslate though.”

I’m developing sites with WPML and before this, I dared to try qTranslate: they can’t compare.
      qTranslate is dirty and cumbersome.

I can’t believe that a such expensive plugin is still not WPML compatible.

This for sure is making me look for something else.

I downloaded the new version of the newsletter plugin and copied it over to my domain. I have an issue when trying to saving changes made on the configuration page. I can access the page and change the options, but when I click to save the settings, nothing happens.

I have check with all my plugins installed on Serradinho.com and found that when ‘After the Deadline’ version 0.49007 is activated, I have the issue. When I deactivate it, I can make changes and save them. I have not checked with all my other plugins, but just wanted to let you know.

Thank you for your comment, George.

There is actually a known conflict documented in our documentation with the After the Deadline plugin: http://docs.tribulant.com/know-issues/4902

I’m sorry for the inconvenience caused but that plugin generates Javascript errors and causes the problem in the WordPress dashboard, we have reported it to them before.

      All the best,
      Antonie

Wow, some much needed updates and some extra cool features. I have downloaded the update and will install later today.

I’m still busy setting up my blog and will then start my review of your plugins I bought. But I have check a bit out of the newsletter and it’s just simple stuff for us users.
